Pretoria: Launch of the Call for Proposals for Large Skills Development Investment Projects

April 11, 2019

The challenge of youth employment in Africa

“Both unemployment and inequality are obstacles to growth”, said Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, African Union Development Agency-NEPAD CEO at the Launch of Funding Window I, the Call for Proposal Large Skills Development Investment Projects, South Africa.

The Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) is an initiative of the African Union Commission (AUC) supported by the German Government to strengthen occupational prospects of young people in Africa. SIFA is providing the funds through KFW with the key objective to support skills development and strengthen employability, implemented by AUDA-NEPD.

The Head of the Skills and Employment programme for the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Fati N’ZI-Hassane, says the fight against youth unemployment in Africa will be in vain if African countries fail to unite.
